Submit Your Application Online Today for NAPECA Grants!
The Council of the Commission for Environmental Cooperation (CEC) is pleased to announce a new Call for Proposals for community-based projects aimed at addressing environmental challenges across North America.
Local organizations and community groups are invited to apply to a US$480,000 grant cycle endorsed by the CEC Council at its 24th annual session on 28 June 2017. Grant selection criteria will ensure that projects achieve measurable objectives and produce clear and tangible results within the timeframe of NAPECA support. The criteria, along with information regarding the application process, are described in the 2017 Call for Proposals. Selected projects will be funded up to a total amount of US$53,000 for a maximum period of 12 months. The due date for submitting proposals is 22 September 2017. Created in 2010, the North American Partnership for Environmental Community Action (NAPECA) grant program is designed to support non-profit and nongovernmental organizations in Canada, Mexico, and the United States that work with local communities to share responsibility for environmental stewardship. Don’t miss this opportunity to give your environmental project the momentum it needs! Visit the NAPECA webpage and register to submit your application online. |

Environmental Studies Research Fund (ESRF) Calls for Proposal
The Environmental Studies Research Fund (ESRF) is now accepting Letters of Interest (LOI) for potential research project funding relating to seismic activities in Canada’s Atlantic offshore.
To continue the ESRF’s efforts to help ensure that industry, government, and regulators have credible data to make evidence-based policy, regulatory and operational decisions, the ESRF is proposing a research program aimed at detecting, recording and evaluating the effects of offshore seismic activities on marine species. Studies supported through this call for LOIs will focus on ‘teleost’ fish (e.g., Atlantic cod, haddock, and halibut) and zooplankton, in the southern Atlantic offshore areas (ESRF Regions 5-16). Depending on the cost requirements of the study, successful applicants could be eligible for funding ranging from $200,000 to $3,000,000 per year, for up to four years, between April 1, 2018 and March 31, 2022. Interested parties are encouraged to review the details provided in the Applicants guide and submit their Letters of Interest, using the LOI form, by 23:59EST on September 14th, 2017. |

Located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Clean Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental environment organization created in 1988. We work for a clean climate and clean water and, to help reach these green goals, we foster and support clean leaders.
Clean works in critical environmental areas like energy efficiency, clean water, sustainable transportation, waste reduction and youth engagement. Our big-picture, solutions-oriented approach helps create a sustainable economy and vibrant society in Atlantic Canada. Because we are collaborative and politically neutral, we can partner with individuals, governments, organizations, communities and businesses to bring about positive change. With decades of first-hand experience, we are able to see environmental opportunities even in the face of daunting challenges. We embrace the principle of the circular economy: a system where waste in all forms is reduced, and products are optimally reused and recycled. Such a vision is necessary to help mitigate and adapt to the challenges of declining resources, growing populations, and a changing climate. Our environmental internship programs build connections between youth and local organizations to strengthen the low-carbon economy as well as the emergence of young community leaders. We offer a number of streams and types of internships, all of which offer students and graduates professional training and employment in the clean tech and environmental sectors. The Clean Leadership Program offers 15-week post-secondary internships, 15-week Aboriginal Leadership internships, and 9-week summer internships. Our training + internship program offers exposure and experiential learning in new green career path opportunities – while giving young minds the tools they need for future success. Interns emerge from the program with the knowledge and aptitude to become professionals and leaders in their community. Since the program began in 1989, more than 1,500 youth have participated and many have gone on to careers in the environment and sustainability. We also deliver Environment and Climate Change Canada’s Science Horizons internship program in Atlantic Canada, offering 6-12 month placements in jobs that focus on environment, science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) to recent graduates from college or university. Eligible employers in Atlantic Canada can include individuals, businesses, non-profit groups, post-secondary educational institutions, and other organizations including Aboriginal agencies.

Clean is involved directly in environmental solutions – we may be Clean, but we don’t mind getting our hands dirty – yet we also know that knowledge exchange, learning and broad discussions on public policy are needed to promote the environmental change required to build a healthy society. We are a registered charity that seeks to encourage sustainability by informing, enabling and inspiring Atlantic Canadians to respect the environment in all aspects of daily life.
