Member Spot-Light, CleanEarth
Through our two operating companies, CleanEarth Technologies and CleanEarth Industrial Services, we are a world-leader in providing our clients with environmental services and solutions to handle any type of contaminated soil and/or water problem, incident or project.
At CleanEarth Technologies our business is soil and water remediation. Our mission is to eliminate soil and water liabilities for our clients in an environmentally safe manner on remediation projects ranging from basic to highly complex, anywhere in the world. We are industry experts in applying innovative technologies and testing processes to bring customized, sustainable solutions and cost-effective results to our clients.
The company has treated over 1,000,000 tonnes of contaminated soil and has developed processes to the point where greater than 98% of the soils treated are re-used as clean sand, gravel, rock and clay. As a company, we are proud of our role in material re-use and landfill diversion.
Our fixed facility, located in the Aerotech Business Park, is Canada’s first and only commercial soil washing and soil recycling facility. We remediate over 120,000 tonnes of soil annually and can treat soils contaminated with heavy metals, petroleum hydrocarbons, and PAHs as well as contaminated sulphide bearing material. CleanEarth Technologies also has mobile processes that can be transported to a client’s site where the soil is remediated and re-used on site. These processes have been successfully used on a variety of sites including environmental disaster recovery sites, high profile urban sites, and remote environmentally sensitive sites.
On the water remediation side, we have treated over 300,000,000 litres of contaminated water to Drinking Water Guidelines. We provide these treatment services both at our Aerotech facility and at client’s sites utilizing our mobile water treatment processes.
We have always invested heavily in R&D activities with a current focus on PFOS and PFOA. These contaminants in soil and groundwater are a growing environmental issue around the world with no current cost effective treatment. CleanEarth is looking to be first to market with a global solution. As part of this opportunity we have recently signed a business deal in Australia to export our technologies and processes.
CleanEarth Industrial Services is a full service industrial cleaning and waste management services company. Our strength is customer service. Our team is made up of highly qualified and experienced personnel. With extensive project expertise, a priority on Health & Safety, and utilizing the region’s best equipment we can respond to and handle any size job or emergency 24 hours a day/7 days a week.

Ongoing program highlight on “Doing Business with the Federal and Provincial Governments”
ESAM recently hosted lunch workshops in NS and NB on the topic of federal procurement. The sessions included information on sole-source and invitational spending limits for the Government of Canada and Province of Nova Scotia, and the process by which companies may (or may not) have access to opportunities. For example, the NS Government buys Goods and Services to the tune of $2B annually, with invitation-only bid requests set at up to $100,000 for individual departments across the province. Local relationships continue to access the majority of funding at that level. Whereas federally, the majority of funding is accessed through various standing offer agreements and supply arrangements.
The feedback from the sessions was tabled at the ESAM Board Meeting for discussion on how best to address the comments from attendees. ESAM will continue to participate in the federal Supplier Advisory Committee (SAC), as a voice for our members. Get involved!
We are seeking specific concerns or specific gaps in knowledge or information regarding procurement with the Provincial and Federal governments. Please send your comments directly to firstname.lastname@example.org or join the committee.

AGAT Laboratories' Environmental Workshop Series Fundamentals in Fieldwork for Contaminated Sites
Each spring, young and eager professionals with limited practical experience enter the work force from university. Busy schedules and tight budgets maintained by government agencies and private firms sometimes challenge the best intentions of employers: to provide effective training to the entry-level / junior (or even intermediate) level staff.
AGAT Laboratories, in cooperation with our industry partners (CleanEarth Technologies, Nova Drilling, and Aquaterra Resources), is proud to deliver a full-day training workshop on Fundamentals in Fieldwork for Contaminated Sites. The workshop will include: classroom exercises for fieldwork preparation (e.g., field meter calibration), borehole drilling and split-spoon sampling, bedrock coring and monitoring well installation, groundwater sampling and field QA/QC (duplicates) procedures, and a high level overview of laboratory analysis with a focus on sample integrity.
Hold June 9th, 2017 on your calendar! The training agenda and the low-fee registration will be announced soon.
